After another leisurely start to the day, we headed to the generally dead center of the Everglades, where we will stay in a bungalow for two nights.
This guy was about 50 feet from our bungalow. I estimated he was 10 - 12 feet long. His smaller mate was nearby.
The whole area around the bungalow is full of interesting things to see. We look forward to a nature walk tomorrow morning to learn more about what we have seen and missed.
We are not roughing it in the bungalow. It has many amenities. Guest accommodations around the second floor.
It is cool to sit looking out on a pond with alligators along the shore, fish jumping in the water, and birds landing on tree limbs.

If you want to receive a notification about posts to this blog, rather than trying to set up an e-mail feed, please set up FOLLOW (in the lower left-hand corner of the page) instead. I have not been impressed with the e-mail option for the past couple of years, and a recent test confirmed it is still wonky. Unfortunately, it is hardwired into the blogger page layout, so I can't zap it off the page.
Fair warning: The nature of this trip will limit the quantity and quality of what I post. In particular, we are not doing much island touring this year. I also expect to lean even more towards pictures than text.
