MAR 08: Jost Van Dyke, BVI

Today was a beach day.

We went ashore by tender, found a beach, and sat down in two chairs under a palm tree, completing the strenuous part of our day.

We did visit Foxy's, a landmark on Jost Van Dyke.

We looked around for a Beverly Yacht Club burgee. Although we did not find it (after an admittedly less than strenuous search), with the number of BYC members who have passed through Foxy's, it was safe to assume our club's flag was hidden in plain sight.

Open-air worship?

It had been 25-30 years since Pam and I last came here, coming from another island where we were staying for a week. What are the chances of us coming again in our lifetime? It's pretty good. Our cruise is scheduled to stop here again on March 20.

SIRENA set a course for the approximately 1,000 nautical miles (1,150 statute miles) passage back to Miami, passing along the northern coast of Hispaniola and Cuba. This is the same route we took on the way down.

On the passage from Florida, we could see those coasts from our stateroom. On the return trip, the view will be nothing but open sea. The trade-off is that our veranda will be on the shady side of the ship.
